Meh. I haven’t really got anything to talk about, today, that would not make me mad. So please forgive me for this short blog entry. I’ll make it up, later, when I have something pleasant to talk about, or at least, something mildly entertaining!
Instead of me yakking, how about some story? :P
Today, in Desperado Dawn, Joshua has a half-conscious flashback, and Sheriff Jackson gets put into an uncomfortable position.

Hahaha… I am reading just a little bit too much agricultural and animal husbandry stuff, lately. Note to self: Don’t want to raise pigs. :P Yeah, at the moment, I am sticking to the idea of horses, only. At least for a while. Maybe the Angora goats, later, once I’ve had time to acclimate myself to the new life. I like goats, but I’m not sure I’m ready for them, full time. Horses, hell, yeah. I gotta have my horses!
Anyway, I haven’t got anything more interesting to say than that, today. Sorry about that. I am still very stressed out and having trouble concentrating on things. (O.o)
Today, in Desperado Dawn, Sheriff Jackson gets to Doc Shackleford’s with Joshua, and gets told to stick around, a while..

Long, long weekend. (O.o) I saw one small ranch that I thought I liked, which had a gorgeous private lake, but decided I didn’t like it as much as I had thought. Too many nitpicky problems quickly add up in my mind as one major problem. I’m starting to think I’m just too picky. I know I’m picky, but this is a much more important decision than a brand of chocolate or even a make of car. So, I dunno. I’m starting to ramble. :P
Anyway, I’m still taking my time on my choice. I don’t have to rush it, and I don’t intend to. In the meantime, I’m still learning new stuff, every day. Saturday, I started learning about pond management. Sunday, I was reading on hay growing, mowing, baling, sylage, etc. I’ve already been through organic gardening and heirloom plants, poultry management and several other topics that had been new to me, before. Been brushing up on equine topics, as it’s been a great number of years since I had a horse of my own, and several years since I was in a position to care for someone else’s horses. No matter what other things I do on my ranch, I will absolutely, positively have at least 3 horses. Preferably, 4-6 horses, as my friends, family and I enjoy riding. Even my mom is excited about the idea of having horses that she can come and ride!
All I need, now, is for everyone who wants to help to send me some good wishes and thoughts, so I can quickly find my perfect home and settle down in it enough to get back to full-steam-ahead writing. Right now, I am so distracted and irritable, that I’m finding it difficult to write what are normally easy stories for me to work on. So, if you can send me some good thoughts, prayers, wishes for success, etc, please send them! I’ll certainly share pics of my new home with you, and also lots and lots of new stories!
Today, in Desperado Dawn, Nate and Jenny make it to Lottie’s house, and Jenny begins to think about why it would be bad for her, if Nate suddenly died, before Joshua had arrived to rescue her.

I had a decent birthday, yesterday. I had no major problems, got lots of birthday wishes, and I got a nice Mexican dinner as a present. Even got a free sopapilla! My lady bought me another year of LiveJournal, so I can keep up my personal blog in my usual way. I also got several lottery tickets, so we’ll see what kind of presents those turn into! All in all, it was a pretty good day. (^-^)
Today, in Desperado Dawn, Curly Alexander finds Sheriff Harrison’s group, just as they capture one of the Blake gang members.

Happy Birthday to ME! :P Today, I am .44 Magn–er, 44 years old. Hard to believe I have made it this far! I never expected to live past 30, but then, if I had not, I’d not have done a lot of the things I have done, since then. If I had not, I’d have missed out on the incredible, beautiful woman who shares her life with me, now. If I had not, I wouldn’t have this writing site and I wouldn’t be sharing my stories with you. I’ve had some rough times, in my life–some VERY rough times–but overall, I wouldn’t change any of it. Every bad thing has added something to my character, as well as having added to my repertoire of experiences and emotions, from which I draw a great deal of inspiration for the lives and personalities of my fictional children. Had I not been through so much hell, I doubt I could write convincingly of the hell my characters go through, in all my stories.
Still, a little relief might be in order, from time to time! Even my characters get relief, once in a while, in the books. (^o^)
Speaking of which…
Today, in Desperado Dawn, Sheriff Seth Jackson and Deputy Curly Alexander find Joshua Love in the woods, and Seth finds he can’t stop lecturing Josh, even when the boy is unconscious.

At the recommendation of a friend, I have been reading some of the novels of Lewis B. Patten. I’m thoroughly enjoying them, too! Patten wrote stories with violent dark elements and anti-heroes and social problems that are not present in the average traditional Western, so I am finding myself identifying with his style. His are stories I might have written, had I been writing in the 50s and 60s, when these books I’m reading were published.
My friend had mentioned that my Westerns seemed to fall into the “noir-Western” category, and I wasn’t sure what that meant. I had always associated “noir” with crime dramas, but he assured me that the definition, as it applied to other genres and stories outside of the cinema, was much broader than that. He considers Patten to be a “noir-Western” writer, as well, and these stories demonstrate the idea, well.
What do you all think about that term, “noir-Western?” What would you consider to be a “noir-Western,” and would you put my stories in that category? I’m interested to find out what everyone thinks about it!
And now, for some story!
Today, in Desperado Dawn, Nathan makes it back to his cabin and grabs up his money bag and Jenny, and heads out for Lottie Cale’s house.

Well! I now seem to have a Wikipedia page! I am so excited! (^o^) If you’d like to check it out, it’s right here:

Thanks to Peanut Jim, for setting that up! He’s done a great job, too. The page is very comprehensive. I think he must know my work better than I do. :P By the end of this year, I should have another one or two things to add to the list, there, too!
Today, in Desperado Dawn, Joshua runs into Nathan Blake in the woods, and the result isn’t pretty, for either of them.

Well, it’s been hot here, again. I thought we were cooling off, last week, but whew! The temps went right back up, over the weekend. Hard to believe it’s nearly the end of September, already.
Speaking of September, I have a birthday coming up, this Thursday, the 25th. I haven’t decided whether or not I will take the day off, as far as updates go, but I probably won’t. Anyway, just thought I’d mention that, in case I change my mind about it, between now and then. :P
Today, in Desperado Dawn, Nathan and his men hear the posse approaching their hideout, and they react with practiced ease, and Jenny gets another painful reminder of what kind of man Nathan Blake is.

*sigh* I still need a lot of rest, and I’m just not getting it. Things are crazy, crazy, crazy around here. I’m getting tired of it, too. I’m ready for a good, long vacation! Too bad it looks as though I’m going to finish out yet another year, without a vacation of any kind. This seriously sucks. (-.-)
Oh well. I do the best I can, with what I have, as we all do. For now, have some story, and I hope you all have a great weekend! I’m posting this one a bit early. I don’t think anyone will mind. :P
Today, in Desperado Dawn, Sheriff Jackson rides with Curly Alexander and Joshua Love, and tries, again, to get through to Josh.

Well, I managed another chapter, for today! Woohoo! (^o^) Wednesday was a little calmer than the preceding days, and for that, I am eternally grateful. I hope things will continue to settle down, as I’m very tired of all this chaos. I need some quiet time, in order to write well. I’ve just not been getting any quiet time, at all, lately. Keep your fingers crossed for me, that everything will get back to normal, soon!
And now, for some stories!
Today, in Desperado Dawn, Jenny is still plotting–and helping herself to some of Nathan’s bank spoils.
