I am such a sucker for beautiful old houses! This past week, I found one that was built in 1919, a gorgeous Greek Revival style with soaring white columns all across the wide front porch, and I have been salivating over it, all weekend. I am in a quandary as to whether or not I should be interested in it. It seems I’m finding a new house every week or so, and I’m going to have to break down and just make a decision. But this is a HUGE decision, so I don’t want to rush into anything. On the one hand, I want my acreage and my horses and my goats, but on the other hand, I want a big old house, even if it’s in town. I am simply nuts for old homes and have been, ever since I was a child. It’s been my dream, all this time, to live in a home that was at or near 100 years old. The Greek Revival one is 89 years old, and that’s pretty darned close to the period I was seeking. I’d looked at another built in 1876, but it was a single-story place, and not quite as big as my latest architectural love.
*sigh* I’ll make up my mind, eventually. Then I shall post pics, once everything is set up! (^-^)

Wow! Weather folks are saying it’s supposed to stay below 100, this coming week! Woohooooooo! And very odd, for August in Texas. Still, I’m happy about it. So is everyone else.
Sadly, I don’t have any fun outdoor activities planned for this weekend, as I have a ton and a half of writing work that needs doing, among other things. But at least I will enjoy knowing the a/c isn’t having to work so hard to cool our house.

Hoo, brother, what a day! Yesterday was only a hair short of total chaos, around here. My life has more ups and downs than a two-dollar whore. :P Still, I keep right on receiving big miracle after big miracle, so I’m slowly learning to be patient and to try not to worry so much. It’s hard, because I’m such a strong worrier!
Anyway, I’d like to take a moment to declare my thanks for the continued good fortune and bevy of miracles in my life. I have been blessed in so many ways, and there are no words strong enough to convey how grateful I am for all of my blessings. I suppose a hearty THANK YOU!!!! would be a good start, though. (^-^)

Bleah! It’s been very rainy around here, today. It was nice for the cooling effect, but rainy days keep me sleepy. I have too much stuff to do, to be sleepy all the time! But I don’t want to complain too much, because it did cool things down, a lot. That’s always a blessing!
I hope it doesn’t rain too much longer, though, because too much rain and too many days with overcast skies can leave me depressed. I could never live in a rainy place like Seattle. I’d commit suicide, within a month! No, sir, I needs me some sunshine to be happy! (^-^)

You might have noticed a few changes on this site, since last week. For one, I have removed the tagboard/shoutbox that used to be on the right sidebar. It was getting attacked too often by spammers, and I really haven’t got the time to waste in trying to clean up their messes, several times a day.
Later on, I may replace the tagboard with another one that is more spammer-proof, but at the moment, I haven’t got the time to look for one or install it. So, if anyone would like to make a comment on the stories or these blog posts, or just say something to me, personally, you can still post those things in the blog or the forums, or send them to me in an email at: kai at kaistarr dot com.
Seems as though I had something else I wanted to talk about, but damned if I can remember what it was, now. :P

Thank goodness we had a slight cooling off, yesterday. It was only 99 degrees, as opposed to 103. :P Still, any bit of cooling is greatly appreciated, in these parts! On top of that, I remain grateful that the north central Texas heat isn’t as awful as that in the southern California desert. Out there, I recall a day when it was 138 degrees outside, and 120 in the house. That’s the day I nearly died of the heat, and I do not miss it, in any way! The thermometer that gave us the reading of 138 degrees was also in the shade, not in full sun. I can only imagine what the temp was, in direct sunlight.
That was out in a place east of 29 Palms, called Wonder Valley, squished between a set of rusted-iron mountains and an old salt lake bed. I always giggled at the name of the place, and figured it got called that because anyone who came there had to think “I wonder why anyone in his right mind would want to live in this valley.” It was the kind of place only a rattlesnake or a scorpion could have loved. :P
Oh, and the first fool who tries to tell me “But it’s dry heat!” is going to get his block knocked off, because he has never been in that kind of damn heat. When the temp is over 120, it makes no difference whether it’s humid or dry. It’s miserable, either way, and if you stay out in it too damned long, you will die just as dead, wet or dry. You cannot feel a difference in wet/dry heat, at those high temps.
But anyway, I ramble. Here are the latest story pieces!

Well, I got my drawing done of Nathan Blake! He certainly doesn’t look as creepy and evil as he is. His face is kind of boyish, actually, in spite of the fact that he’s 24 years old. But anyway, here’s the pic, all in pencil in my usual style:

I am working on a drawing of Nathan Blake, today. He’s surprisingly hard to draw, probably because he has such big dark eyes and a somewhat boyish face. It’s hard to reconcile that in my mind with his evil heart! He just does not look as horrible as he is. But…I’m getting there. I shall post the drawing in here, when it’s done.
Today, in Desperado Dawn, Nathan Blake fails to prove himself in bed with the unconscious Jenny Sue Carter, so he leaves her to go in search of the tried-and-true.

Heh heh… I like to play games on Pogo, and occasionally, I play with one or the other of my characters. Most of them are pretty lucky, but the only one who insists upon talking to other players is Joshua Love. Last night, he was talking to a lady about fried chicken, and it was a pretty hilarious conversation. Obviously, she didn’t look at his profile, or she’d have realized she was talking to a fictional character. But what fun! :D
Anyway, if you play Pogo games, particularly Sci-Fi slots or First Class Solitaire or Jacks or Better Poker, and would like someone to chat with while playing, add JoshuaLove to your friends list and say Hi to him, if you see him in a room. He’ll be happy to chat, and a talk with him is guaranteed to be amusing. (^-^)
