Two more songs to finish tonight, and my new album will be done! Woohoo! Then I’ll be taking the weekend to try to do some mega-spurts of writing. I’ve let it slide in order to work on the music stuff, this past week, but it’s time to get back into the prose groove, with a vengeance!
If you’d like to hear any of the latest songs, just hit my jukebox and check out the titles with “Raw” appended to them. That’s the name of the album, because it’s full of songs done in one take. Some of them are pretty raw, too. I left in mistakes and all, because it’s an exercise in one-take recording. I’ll redo the ones that need fixing, later. I haven’t got that page linked anywhere on the site, right now, either. The current music link in the right sidebar goes to my Virb page. But this coming week, I’ll be moving all my music over to the on-site player, and updating the links in the sidebar. Hope you enjoy the free music!
Now for the updates! Today, in The Faraian Conspiracy, the Parilaxan rebels lose a member, when their disguised headquarters get a violent visit from the Lema’anite army. And in Rustler’s Roundup, pretty Jenny shows her talent for manipulating men, when she talks her father’s top ranch hand into agreeing to get Joshua’s address for her.

Rustler’s Roundup, chapter 23 (Desperado novel)

Still working a lot on music, and wrestling with sore fingers from so much guitar playing! I don’t know if I’ll finish by Friday night, but well, might as well try it. Then this weekend, I can get back into serious writing, again. I feel kind of weird, jumping back and forth between the 21st and 19th centuries, like this, but weird is good. (^-^)
Today, in Rustler’s Roundup, Bill rides to Dallas for help, and later uncovers a hint of Joshua’s secret!

Got a couple of rough songs done for Raw, my new album. Hop to the new music page to hear them. “Down on the Brazos” is a bluesy-country-rock song, and “One Wish” is a sad ballad. I’ll be adding other songs to the player as I have time. Right now, the others are mostly available on my Virb site. I have a lot more music to do, before Friday, so please forgive me if I am running late on the story updates, anytime this week!
Today, in Rustler’s Roundup, Josh and Bill are on a rustling run, when Josh finds himself at the wrong end of a shotgun. The result of that ain’t pretty, either. (O.o)

Not much to report, today, other than that I’m finally starting to get rolling on my new album! I managed three drum tracks and rhythm guitar tracks for three different songs, last night, but I’ve still got a way to go to finish it. I hope to do so by the end of the week, though! It’s going to be a challenge and a half, and even if I don’t finish on time, I’ll be able to say I did a hell of a lot of musical work in a week. (^-^)
Today, in Rustler’s Roundup, Jenny and her father have their little talk, while her mother eavesdrops. Her mother’s conclusion is probably right, too. That Jenny is one wild, wild girl, and her craziness is a good match for Joshua’s!

I had a full weekend of stuff, but didn’t manage to do any of the music I had planned on doing. Instead, I got caught up in writing and other things and completely lost track of what world I was living in. You know you’re spending too much time in your fictional worlds when you find yourself standing in the kitchen and seeing a layer of 1869 draped over your current environment, a layer so realistic that you aren’t quite sure which world you’re actually in!! Happens to me a lot, these days. (O.o) Still, that craziness is one reason I love writing, so much!
Now for the updates! Today, in The Faraian Conspiracy, Colonel Ebert meets with General Fuchida in a strained discussion of the Faraian mission. And in Rustler’s Roundup, Bill scolds Josh for kissing Jenny, again, and explains a little more of his (mis)understanding of female psychology.

Woohoo! It’s finally the weekend! I’m gonna be making a lot of music, the next couple of days, and maybe I’ll post a link to one of the better songs. That is, if any of them come out good!
I’ve been having some trouble with my monitor blacking out, lately. I don’t know what’s causing it, but I suspect it’s dust. However, my computer is an eMac, with the all-in-one case, and it’s bolted together with screws that need a tiny hex screwdriver…a hex one size smaller than the smallest one I have. (-.-) So I have not been able to find one to open the case with, and see if I can clean it!! Very frustrating. You’d think some place like Radio Shack would carry them, but, um, no. They only carry entire sets, and I don’t want to have to buy an entire set just to get one lousy screwdriver. *big heaping sighs*
Anyway, for today’s updates, in The Faraian Conspiracy, Mara gets a new voice and tries out his new personality, but Colonel Ebert isn’t happy about what he’s caught his new partner doing. In Rustler’s Roundup, Bill loses ten dollars at the poker tables, but Josh finishes losing his heart to wild girl, Jenny Carter!

Someone asked me why Josh acts so weird around girls, so I thought I’d answer here, for everyone’s benefit. (^-^)
Rustler’s Roundup takes place in 1869, and in those days, working cowboys didn’t have much chance to be around women, other than those in brothels or the off-limits daughters of ranch owners. Mostly, they spent all their time around other men, and in the Old West, men far outnumbered women in most places. It was not uncommon for them to have strange attitudes toward women or to be uncomfortable around them, or even distrustful of them, as Bill is. Josh is 16 years old, and is still a virgin. He’s never so much as had a casual girlfriend, before, and he’s not exactly sure what to think of Jenny. His body and eyes are interested, but his mind is confused! I’m sure he’ll get over that, though, with more exposure to the fairer sex, and he’ll definitely be getting more of that!
Today, Bill continues his “sage” advice over a steak dinner at the El Paso Hotel in Fort Worth, but Josh finds he can’t stop thinking about Jenny, even though he goes back and forth between wanting to kiss her, wanting to spank her, and wanting to be rid of her, forever. Sounds like love, to me!

Still finding little things to tweak on the site! I’ve rearranged things so that the blog and story pages should now load before the ads do, and I hope that will make your visit more enjoyable. As always, if you find anything broken or missing, please comment in the blog and let me know, so I can fix it, ASAP!
In today’s update, Bill gives Joshua some “sage” advice about women, but I don’t think it’s going to be of much help to him. Chewy Bill Roberts is not exactly an expert on love scrapes…or any other kind of love situations.

So far, so good on the new hosting service! I now have a new email address, too: kai@kaistarr.com! I’m not changing over the links on the site yet, but I will, sometime this week. I also have a fresh batch of dark chocolate brownies with chocolate chips in them, so I’m good and high! (^o^)
I’ve started working on another short story for my teenage outlaw character, Joshua Love, too. I’ll probably have that ready in the next couple of days, to update along with the installments of the novel, Rustler’s Roundup. I’ve wanted to do more short stories, but time has been extremely hard to come by, lately, what with the move to the new servers and trying to get everything in the databases working properly. I should have a bit more time for short pieces, before long. If there is any particular character or story that you’d like to see more of, please let me know! I’m kind of flying blind with what you might like to see from me. I’ve got tons and tons of universes and characters and settings, and it’s hard to pick just one to work on, sometimes. So if you don’t find what you’d like to see, ask for it! I’ll do my best to write it for you. Email me or comment in one of the blog posts and let me know what you’d like! And don’t be shy, because I love to write! It’s not as though you’d be asking me to clean the toilet or wash dishes or eat lentils.
In today’s update, Josh and Bill drive their stolen cattle to the Ft. Worth auction, where Josh locks horns…and lips…with the purtiest gal he’s ever seen.

The server move is complete, and everything seems in order! Woohoo! I’m so glad that’s done. Now, sometime before April, I need to move Kyoki Press over to this new host, as well…providing it all works out as well as I’m hoping that it will. At the moment, I’m highly satisfied with this service. The pages are serving fast, and the databases work, consistently. When I move the other site over, it will be after a total top-to-bottom redesign, so it will run as efficiently and be as easy to update and maintain as kaistarr.com is, right now. Moving the enormous forum database is going to be a challenge, but it will be worth it, to have the scripts and database working as they should, rather than dragging and disappearing, as they sometimes do on their current host. Anyway, Woohoo! for great hosting! \(^o^)/
That said, please email me or post a comment here, if you should find anything that is missing or doesn’t work.
Now, on to the updates!
Today, in The Faraian Conspiracy, Ara and Fari get their planes and military aid, while in Rustler’s Roundup, Josh and Bill go to Dallas and end up with more than the whiskey they went for.
